Box Office Coordinator (2017 Season) - Bowie Baysox (Bowie, MD)

The Bowie Baysox Baseball Club, Class AA Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles are seeking highly motivated and energetic candidates for our position of Box Office Coordinator for the time period of mid-March 2017 through September 1, 2017.

Requirements:

The Baysox are looking for an individual that is looking to gain experience in the sports industry or has an interest in ticketing. Individual must have a flexible schedule and be able to work all Baysox home games and special events in addition to regular business hours. This position is for candidates who have completed a four year college degree. Position starts mid-March 2017 and runs through September 1, 2017. This is a full-time, seasonal position paid bi-weekly. Local candidates are preferred. 

PLEASE NOTE: Night, weekend and holiday work will be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•Coordinating and executing all facets of ticket processing including incoming individual and group orders for both baseball and special events, with strong emphasis placed on Customer Service and fan interaction using TicketReturn ticketing system
•Assisting in accounting, reconciling, and other financial aspects of the Box Office for both group and game day events
•Working closely with the Marketing department to facilitate all targeted ticket programs
•Generating ideas to increase sales of all ticket types, with particular emphasis being placed on database marketing
•Performing additional duties as assigned by the Box Office Manager

Qualifications:

• Strong computer skills

• Previous customer service experience

• Experience in sport organization or related business, especially in a ticketing capacity, preferred but not required

 • Experience with TicketReturn preferred but not required    

 • Previous retail or other cash drawer experience preferred, but not required      

 • Strong attention to detail A MUST

 • General math skills

Position Reports to the Box Office Manager

Communications Assistant (2017 Season) - Bowie Baysox (Bowie, MD)

The Bowie Baysox (Double-A Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles) are currently accepting resumes for the position of Communications Assistant for the 2017 season. Those interested in applying for the position must have a flexible schedule and be able to work all Baysox home games and special events in addition to regular business hours. This position is for candidates who have completed a four year college degree. Position starts mid-March 2017 and runs through September 1, 2017. This is a full-time, seasonal position paid bi-weekly. Local candidates are preferred. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct post game interviews; write and distribute post game recaps
  • Interview Baysox players, coaches and front office staff for Baysox game program and online feature stories
  • Facilitate interviews with Baysox players/staff and local media
  • Aid in the compilation of daily game notes and statistics for coaching staff, media and radio broadcasters
  • Update standings, lineup cards, box scores and press box materials for each game
  • Help generate content for Baysox social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
  • Assist with daily upkeep of content on team website (www.baysox.com), including posting game stories, feature stories, upcoming promotions and statistical data for home and road games
  • Design graphics to make website and social media attractive and useful as a sales tool
  • Monitor local and online media outlets and compile press clippings
  • Perform duties as Gameday stats stringer during Baysox home games – must complete Gameday pitch-by-pitch training with representatives from MLB Advanced Media prior to start of season.
  • Aid in Baysox organization marketing, community outreach and sales projects.
  • Other Duties as assigned by Communications Manager and Director of Marketing

Qualifications include:

  • Hold a degree in communications, journalism, sport management or related field
  • Previous sports writing experience and familiarity with AP style preferred
  • Exceptional (and demonstrable) knowledge of baseball and how to score a baseball game
  • Strong computer proficiency (Windows OS and Windows-based software) and the ability to quickly learn and operate new software
  • Ability to work long hours while remaining enthusiastic and energetic
  • Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is preferred.
  • Experience in a baseball press box is a plus

Marketing: Event Operations/Management
On Field Emcee (2017 Season) - Bowie Baysox Baseball Club (Bowie, MD)

The Bowie Baysox, the Class Double-A Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, are seeking an energetic and seasoned public speaker to serve as the team's On-Field Emcee for the 2017 season and possibly beyond.  This is a part-time, seasonal position, paid on a per-game basis that runs from April through the end of the season. 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform as Baysox On-Field Emcee for the 2017 season
  • Introduce all pre-game performances including parades, dance and performance groups, etc.
  • Emcee pre-game ceremonies including Baysox promotions, player related awards, honoring dignitaries and members of the community, etc.
  • Emcee all in-game, between innings promotions that take place on the field or in the stands - Introducing contestants and describing the on-field promotion to the fans
  • Work with Baysox Full-Time employees, Press Box Staff and Interns to coordinate promotions and provide a fun and memorable experience at the ballpark
  • Interact with fans on a continual basis during each Baysox game to explain and coordinate promotions so they are executed properly and in a timely manner
  • Emcee post-game activities including any post-game promotions or ceremonies, firework show countdowns and Kids Base Run (takes place after every home game) announcements and assistance

Requirements: 

  • MUST have the ability to speak in front of thousands of people and speak in a clear and understandable manner
  • The Bowie Baysox play Seventy (70) home games each season and the On-Field Emcee MUST be able to work a vast majority of the games - preferably Sixty (60) plus games a season
  • MUST have a flexible schedule that allows you to work the entire Baysox game as well as nights and weekends between April and August (and possibly playoff games into early September).
  • MUST be energetic and great at interacting with people of all ages and backgrounds
  • MUST have the ability to walk up and down stairs and do a lot of walking around the ballpark
  • MUST be able to arrive at the ballpark at least one hour before the game starts to review game scripts and Emcee any possible pre-game events
  • Previous Emcee experience is preferred but not required
  • Local Candidates are strongly preferred

Stadium Operations Assistant (2017 Season) - Bowie Baysox Baseball Club (Bowie, MD)

The Bowie Baysox Baseball Club, Class AA Minor League Baseball Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles are seeking candidates for the seasonal position of Stadium Grounds and Operations Assistant for the upcoming 2017 Bowie Baysox season.                                 

Candidates interested in applying for this position must be able to work full-time (including all Baysox Home Games, Stadium Events and will include some Weekends and Holidays) beginning February 15, 2017 through October 1, 2017 (Start & End dates are flexible under circumstance).


Job Responsibilities: 

  • Reports to Stadium Operations Manager and Head Groundskeeper
  • Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Assist with game day facility operations and pregame field preparation
  • Oversee parking and cleaning crews
  • Assist in production, set-up, execution, and break down of other events held at the facility; including baseball games, stadium rentals, and other events (possible concerts, celebrity all-star games, etc.)
  • Must be able identify issues with the facility and correct them in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Sport Management, Recreation Management, or similar field or recent graduate interested in Facility Management.  Applicant can also have a completed trade certification. 
  • Be able to work flexible hours for stadium events (baseball and non-baseball).
  • Ability to perform various trades such as: painting, landscaping, electrical, and HVAC is desired.
  • Retain a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and well with others.


Compensation:  A monthly salary to be determined based on experience.
